The Stress Thermometer ™ is an easy to use tool to measure stress instantly and train your body to relax.
This device uses a highly sensitive small bead thermal sensor to measure skin temperature.
How It Works
The Stress Thermometer™ will let you see changes in hand temperature that are a reflection of blood flow, which is a measure of the stress response.
How hand temperature relates to stress. The basic rule for interpreting temperature change is simple: “Warm hands are relaxed, Cold hands are tense.” Under stress muscles tense and blood flow is restricted to the main body and shut down from the hands and feet.
When the body’s fight or flight system is activated the muscles tense, heart rate speeds up and blood flow is redirected from the extremities to the muscles, heart and vital organs. As a result finger temperature can show changes of 5 degrees or more in seconds as you prepare to fight or flee a dangerous situation. Our bodies perceive everyday stressors (traffic, deadlines, money, etc.) as an emergency flight or fight event. The amount of temperature change depends on the stressor or problem and how you react to it.
How You Use It
Just hold the sensor between your fingers tips or tape it to your finger tip-and you are testing your stress level! It’s that easy. The Stress Thermometer™ comes with a complete instruction sheet including long term goals and answers to frequently asked questions—including temperature variations. The Stress Thermometer™ has the advantage of giving you a specific number value for stress levels that can be compared over time to check improvement and for degrees of reactions to different stressful events.
For example watch your temperature plummet 10 degrees by just thinking about your bossy mother. Be amazed as it surges 6 degrees when you talk about your great vacation in Bali. You’ll wonder if it can read your mind and sense your emotions.
This is an excellent tool to teach yourself to reduce your reaction to stress that can lead to headaches, insomnia, ulcers, anxiety, high blood pressure, pain, depression and more.
The Stress Thermometer™ is used by students, teachers, researchers, therapists, clients, hospitals, massage therapists, alcohol/drug rehab, employee assistance, doctors, and many more.
