Erin Calhoun M.S., NKT
I hold a masters degree in kinesiology from A.T. Still University Arizona School of Health Science, with post-grad certifications in orthopedic exercise and rehabilitative exercise. The 2 primary assessment and treatment modalities I use include NeuroKinetic Therapy and the Voila Method of Structural Joint Balancing.
NKT utilizes manual muscle testing to assess how the motor control center of the brain communicates with muscles. Poor postural habits and/or repetitive movements can cause the brain to learn and store faulty movement patterns (“muscle memory”). NKT can determine the root cause of this faulty movement pattern, and with the implementation of corrective exercise, reestablish the proper pattern, thus relieving pain and preventing future injury.
The Voila Method of Structural Joint Balancing assess the structural integrity of the body’s foundation, our bones and joints. Without proper alignment of the bones, the muscles cannot function optimally, and may lead to dysfunctional movement patterns. Minor adjustments to individual bones or joints can create a more solid foundation for the muscles, allowing the body function as its optimum.
Using these 2 techniques together allows me to assess clients more efficiently and create a more effective treatment plan. Most clients report significant improvements with the first 2-3 sessions. This is a 100% non-invasive assessment and treatment method.
I have worked with a wide range of clients, from housewives to elite level athletes, all with various conditions ranging from chronic headaches, whiplash, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, low back pain, hip, knee, and shoulder injuries, ankle sprains, and plantar fasciitis.
“Erin thank you so much for our homework! We both were so impressed with your knowledge and approach to our (Mark’s) unique issues. We look forward to reporting on our progress and to seeing you at the gym for some tweaking”

“Erin is amazing!!! She not only helped my neck pain that I had been dealing with for years…she helped me to move better, and I am stronger than I’ve ever been. Everyone, whether they are in pain or not, would benefit from a session with her”.
“I have worked with Erin on a variety of muscle aches for a few months now. She was very knowledgeable about how aches are caused, and what muscle groups were misfiring. She helped me greatly by releasing tight muscles, but by also giving me exercises to address my issues. I would definitely recommend working with Erin to address muscle issues as she really helped me in a short period of time”.
