Pain is so subjective that it cannot always be fully assessed and responded to by others as its impact is not always seen in the physical form. Hypnosis, also known as Medicine of the Mind, supports your ability to use your subconscious mind to address, respond, modify and change your response to consciously perceived pain regardless of its origin and symptoms. All those previously learned and unconscious responses to pain are reframed in such a manner where your pain no longer negatively impacts the emotional, physical, social, spiritual and financial aspects of your life.
The completion of a Self-Pain Assessment helps to determine the source of when, where and why your pain exists, the previous methods used to address your pain and your usual response to your pain. Your perception of pain and its impact on your life cannot be addressed using the concept that the ‘same approach fits all, ‘ therefore, a holistic approach using pain free methods and coaching/talk therapy are integrated within each Hypnotic Session.
You receive the best of both worlds: my knowledge of the Western Health Care System and an integrated approach where complementary medicine methods are used as an adjunct to their current plan of healthy living.
For more than 54 years as a RN, I have had various opportunities to interact with many clients challenged by overwhelming health related issues…ranging from life threatening situations to having to modify one’s life style to accommodate the effects of chronic illness. I have a diploma in Nursing, a Bachelor’s in Nursing, Master’s in Adult Education and a Doctor of Science in Holistic Health and Wellness, a Diploma in Massage Therapy and am a Reiki Master/Teacher.
I spent over 35 years teaching Nursing in diploma, undergraduate Nursing & Allied Health programs as well as in the development and presentation of Continuing Education programs in Nursing and Health related Professions. I served my Country as a Captain in the USAF Nurse Corps and have been the President and Chair of a Board for national organizations oriented to Massage Therapy & Nurse Massage Therapists.
In the late 1990’s, I left Nursing Education and embarked on a Journey which afforded me the opportunity to integrate my knowledge of Nursing and the Medical Community into complementary health care. My years as a Nurse Massage Therapist, Reiki Master Teacher and Medical Hypnotherapist have been as rewarding as my years in the active field of Nursing.
Currently, I teach at a local Midwest Big 10 University; maintain a private practice, ‘The Spirit Within Hypnosis and Reiki Energy Healing Center’ and am co-authoring a consumer based text on the Use of Self Hypnosis. I continue to expand and validate the Services offered with continuing education courses.

Dr. J., my pain specialist, cannot believe that I no longer experience the level or even the existence of the continual pain in my right leg. My comment of well, having a totally mobile leg made of wood cannot feel pain but can feel other sensations….Perhaps he will become a believer in Hypnosis. B. R., Detroit Michigan
Judy, thank you so much for working with my dentist regarding the potential pain I was fearful of with the recent root canal procedure. He tapped the area to be treated and I felt nothing. I also experienced a very warm, safe sensation when my back came into contact with the back of the dental chair. I was so relaxed. I could not have done this without you…. M. W. Michigan City, IN
