Lauren Canonico, LCSW
I facilitate affirmative, engaged psychotherapy, and interactive, results focused coaching customized to help you take care of yourself, physically and emotionally, and heal from the trauma of pain and illness, and the body, lifestyle and relationship changes that can follow chronic health conditions. I’m especially experienced in working with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Endometriosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Hashimoto’s and other thyroid diseases.
I offer special insights to women and others trying to slow down amid the intensity of city living, as well as to those who identify all along the LGBTQIA+ and GSM spectrums, respecting the fluidity and complexity of gender and sexuality. I believe strongly in the principles of the Health At Every Size movement, and am a member of the Association for Size Diversity and Health, committed to providing respectful, size and body inclusive treatment.
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud
was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” ― Anaïs Nin
In addition to my work with patients, I am an adjunct faculty member at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service, and an experienced clinical supervisor and consultant with SIFI certification, focusing my work on supporting newer clinicians in locating their unique therapeutic “voice” including use of their own bodies and affective experiences.
New supervision group on the therapist’s body in treatment starting early 2018!
