I am Board Certified in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I practiced conventional psychiatry for over 24 years. However, when I developed chronic pain and autoimmune diseases I began looking for alternative treatments as the conventional methods were not effective for me. This eventually lead me to retrain myself in integrative treatment modalities. I have also completed all of the academic requirements for certification in the Institute for Functional Medicine and will test for certification in the Spring of 2018.
Pain can be from many different causes, including autoimmune diseases, musculoskeletal problems, neurological conditions, inflammation elsewhere in the body, central pain based in the brain, neurogenic causes, and many more. My training in Functional Medicine helps clarify the underlying root cause of your pain, and guide us to the most appropriate treatment.
I offer multiple treatment options, including the use of diet and lifestyle; supplements (including CBD oil) and herbs to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress; Cranial Electrical Stimulation via the Alpha-Stim for peripheral pain, as well as insomnia, anxiety and depresssion; Neurofeedback for chronic centrally mediated pain and Migraine; HeartMath to improve Heart Rate Variability and reduce anxiety, depression and anger; and Hyperbaric Oxygen to help with wound healing as well as to increase oxygenation – this can help with stroke, traumatic brain trauma, crush injuries, cerebral palsy, and other conditions. In January, 2018 I will be adding an Ondamed, which uses PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Frequencies individually selected based on biofeedback) as another treatment modality for pain – this includes musculoskeletal pain, visceral/organ pain and emotional pain.
