Description of Practice: Vivien Joy Lamadrid, RN, BSN

My name is “Vivien Joy” Lamadrid. Currently I’m a critical care nurse working in the ICU (intensive care unit)  with 7 years experience as a recovery room nurse with a holistic approach to health. I help people who are going through surgery get through the experience with the least amount of fear, so they can get the maximum amount of healing in the fastest amount of time. This is done by working in partnership with patients like you to integrate holistic approaches for optimal health and healing. I love to help people empower themselves to heal faster! I’ve been a nurse for almost 20 years and have seen and experienced many advances and challenges in health care. For example, today there are less invasive approaches in cardiovascular care, with faster recovery and greater results, yet insurance coverage is changing and reimbursement for services is more limited. The most amazing change I’ve seen is an increased awareness in the value of using mind, body, and spiritual approaches to healing. Since 2001 I’ve been fascinated with holistic approaches to self-care and for dealing with the stresses of everyday life. As I go through my own journey of healing, learning, and educating others, as well as working with my patients and clients, I’m meeting more and more people who are open to a new way of healing. And it’s not just patients who are open to this; imagine a bridge made up of physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers who work together with you, trusting and valuing your role in the healing process.
