Since 2005, I have been practicing shiatsu, a Japanese style of bodywork that works with the Qi ('life force energy', or bioelectric current).
In my early years of practice, it was becoming clear that more and more of my clients were dealing with 'postural' injuries; more to the point, experiencing the tension and pain - even anxiety - that comes with adaptations to environments that require little to no whole body movement.
I began to bring my own self-care practice of Qigong (a form of 'moving meditation') to my clients, and in 2014, I discovered the work of biomechanist Katy Bowman.
My training in her 'restorative exercise' was a perfect complement to the Qigong - offering specific biomechanical movements, along with the balance, breathing and gentle joint mobilizations of Qigong.
It was important to me that my clients were equipped with tools that they could easily understand and practice beyond the bodywork sessions.
There was still a missing piece, however. It was the bridge to help my clients approach their bodies from a stance of kindness and empowerment - rather than the disconnection and harsh judgement many bring to their wellness practices as a result of our culture, or even trauma.
So, in 2022, I became certified as an Embodied Meditation teacher.
This body of work helps me to give my clients and students the tools to practice awareness and choice when it comes to their bodies - whether in meditation, movement, as a receiver of bodywork, or any other practice.
I mainly work with people in my Exton, PA location, however, I also offer weekly movement classes online, and am cultivating a growing library of online courses, meditations and other resources, which can be found on my website.
A number of my movement and meditation videos can be found on my YouTube channel.
