Description of Practice: Anita Wong Acupuncture

I specialize in women’s health care with my focus on delivering the highest quality care possible, physically, mentally and emotionally.  For the past 20 years, I have dedicated myself to learning about the anatomy, physiology, diagnoses and diseases that are specific to women.

For over 2,000 years, Chinese Medicine has helped women with health issues such as:

    • amenorrhea
    • dysmenorrhea
    • menorrhagia
    • oligomenorrhea
    • premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
    • premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)
    • fertility
    • autoimmune disorders
    • weight loss
    • preconception and pregnancy care
    • perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs)
    • postnatal/postpartum care and recovery
    • postpartum depression (PPD)
    • recurrent miscarriage
    • polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
    • endometriosis
    • uterine fibroids and cysts
    • perimenopause and menopause.

All of these conditions can produce high stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia.  Acupuncture and herbs are highly regarded as being some of the most effective systems in the treatment and healing of women’s health issues.

I work with different modalities to keep your body and spirit in balance. I utilize an integrative and holistic approach to good health and well-being.

Treatment may include acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, Tui-Na massage, Reiki, essential oils and flower essences. Nutritional supplements and herbal prescriptions are a separate cost.

    Credentials
I received my Master's degree from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City.

I am a third generation practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine. My grandfather had a practice in Guangzhou, China. He passed down our traditions and his knowledge of our medicine to my mother, who lovingly passed the family legacy to me.
    Testimonials
"I am forty something years old and I’ve been a consumer of acupuncture for over seven years. This past year, I have been fortunate to work with Anita Wong. She has the qualities that are important in a practitioner. She is skilled, compassionate, knowledgeable and most importantly SHE IS EFFECTIVE. Anita has a positive energy that is contagious and healing. The healing starts when Anita enters the room. She is totally focused on her patient, carefully listens to her history, and is fully engaged in the healing. She poses thoughtful questions to clarify all facets of the medical problem. She has treated me for depression, anxiety, excessive anger, stagnation, menstrual cramps, muscular pain, among other things. I have seen improvements in all areas. Anita Wong is a true gem."

"Anita is a caring, capable, and empathetic professional. She patiently listened to what my problems were and evaluated them from a holistic perspective. She explained to me what she thought was going on with my body and how we were going to deal with it. The treatment goals I had were long-term in nature and she gently worked towards it. She did not rush to demonstrate anything and that is a great thing because needles can be very powerful. She has great bedside manners and has always been attentive to my needs. I felt that, as a patient, my overall wellbeing is the top priority for her and she has an open mind when she's coming up with solutions."

    Chris L. - Attorney

“I’ve done weekly acupuncture sessions with Anita for the better part of a year now, as well as guasha and cupping treatments, mostly to help with back pain and asthma. Anita is a very good listener and took time to figure out what my particular issues were. She is very knowledgeable about Traditional Chinese Medicine, and she knows how to needle properly - I’ve never felt any discomfort even with 20-30 needles from ears to feet. While acupuncture is obviously not a panacea that will miraculously make all problems disappear in an instant, regular treatments have been effective in controlling and alleviating pain and asthma. For acute tension or hardening of muscles, I have found that guasha and cupping can be extremely helpful, sometimes almost immediately after treatment.

I highly recommend Anita to anyone who is looking for acupuncture and other TCM treatments, whether you’ve had it before or not. I don’t think you’ll find anyone better."

"Anita has been treating me for various problems including lung complications, chest pains, muscle cramps, arthritis and low energy. In addition to acupuncture, she treats me with kindness, listening, positive energy and encouragement. I always feel so much better after a session with Anita."
