Why do you have pain?
Pain afflicts us in different ways. You may have a stress headache, an acute injury, or a chronic degenerative condition, all producing pain with unique characteristics.
From a Chinese medical perspective, all pain, no matter its apparent source, is caused by a blockage, obstruction, some type of stagnation. Things that should be moving freely in your body are no longer moving well, whether that’s blood, lymphatic fluid, neural energy, or qi, which is the totality of the functional energy of your body, and includes emotional, mental, and even spiritual aspects of your being.
This understanding has been a guiding principle for the treatment of pain in Chinese medicine for nearly 4,500 years. In one of the most ancient of Chinese medical classics, The Huang Di Nei Jing (The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, c. 2,600 B.C), the phrase “tong ze bu tong, bu tong ze tong” was introduced and has since become axiomatic. Its meaning is “if there is free flow, there is no pain; if there is pain, there is no free flow”. This principle has stood the test of time, even as treatment methods have evolved over the centuries.
Treatment Options For Natural Pain Management
If you are local to the Boston area, you are invited to schedule an in-person appointment for:
• acupuncture
• herbal medicine
• therapeutic bodywork
• private lessons in qigong and other Chinese self care and healing exercises.
We’ll find the root cause of your pain, discuss any other health concerns you'd like addressed, and design a course of treatment tailored to your exact needs.
No matter where you are in the world, I can help you remotely in a variety of ways, including:
• an herbal consultation over Zoom.
I’ll do a detailed intake, similar to what I’d do if you were in my office. I will advise you on the best herbs and supplements for you to purchase on your own, often with recommended dietary changes, or if you are in the US and it is more convenient for you, I can arrange to have herbal formulas shipped to you as tablets, capsules, or in powdered form. Click above to make an appointment.
• online private instruction in Chinese Healing Exercises or specific qigong practices that will suit your individual needs best. I also offer a variety of qigong classes and workshops online and in person if you prefer a group learning experience.
One of the most powerful self-healing qigong practices you can learn is Dragon and Tiger Medical Qigong. Watch this video for a demonstration.
• Distance/Remote Healing with medical qigong. This provides comparable results to acupuncture, often working faster and providing deeper benefits.
